My week, randomly.

My week was CRAZY!  Crazy good. Crazy bad. Just crazy and busy all all around. I was going non stop from Monday morning through sometime Sunday afternoon! I don't have a complete photo montage, but I did take some random photos and I thought I'd just share a very ATYPICAL week in the life.......  (me being me, I mostly took pictures of the animals I came across).

Seattle is getting a ferris wheel. It's likely just to turn the waterfront into more of a tourist nightmare than it already is, but maybe a local or two will make it down.

We had a visitor this weekend. He pooped a lot, wasn't very happy, and, after waking me from my nap, didn't stay long.

Horses, that's right!  I hung out with horses. This is Savannah. She was more interested in eating than helping us with our leadership training exercises. And who can blame her!!!

Sun. He was a bit of rascal. Actually, he was a total teenager.

Itchy butt.

Extra cute puppy sleeping in the rain.

Inside or out, Daisy likes to sleep on my laundry whenever the opportunity presents itself. Typically, she likes white shirts, but if the options are black or gray she'll go where she can have the most impact.

And best of all, True turned 6 this week!  Happy birthday True!!!!

Things I don't Understand, Part 2 + Bonus Otto Story

I saw this the other day and I think it definitely qualifies as something that makes NO sense to me. First will start with a couple things that are weird, but at least I can explain.

Mustaches are trendy!
So, this I don't really get, but with the whole Movember rage, ironic mustaches mustaches do seem to be very trendy these days. Plus, it might be fun to put the band aid your finger or lip and pretend to you have a mustache. I wouldn't find that fun, but I can understand why others may try to have fun in this manner.

Spreading love.
This I get. Who wouldn't want their band aid to express that someone loves and is taking care of them?  I'm sure this would help with the healing !

But this?????
This I do NOT understand. Why would anyone EVER for any reason make or buy macaroni and cheese bandages?  Why would you even think of this?

Bonus, Otto Story.

So last Saturday I let Otto out in the back yard, expecting him to take a nap in the sun as he always does. I was surprised when, about 15 minutes later, I found him standing at the front door asking to come in!  I know he can jump the fence, but it's been probably 5 years since he's done this. I stepped outside and my neighbor said Otto was carrying something in his mouth and looked like he had done something wrong. My neighbor said he left the thing in the  yard.  I looked in the yard and couldn't find anything. Otto spent the day acting like a dog who had eaten way too much of something he shouldn't have. But the next day all was fine and we went about our business.

Until yesterday (a full week later). Friday morning, Otto walked out of the house and  walked straight to the sage bush in front of the house and started digging. Moments later he's holding a large (5inch x 5 inch) piece of stinky raw meat in his mouth!!! It seems he'd buried it there the week before. OMG and YUCK!

Questions that come up here.
  1. Where the hell was he that he found so much food, enough food that he was too full to eat a huge piece of raw meat?
  2. What happened Friday morning?  Did he wake up and suddenly think, oh, yeah, I need to eat that meat?
Not one of Otto's finer moments!

Things I don't Understand, Part 1

Well, it being mother's day and all, I should probably wax poetically about my mother and how great she is. But it seems I did an amazing job of that that last year (Mother's day ). So, we'll ride out that one for a while longer and start a new series, Things I Don't Understand!

The first thing I'd like to talk about is texting while driving. This is not smart people! Now I'm not unreasonable, talking while driving is stupid, BUT I can understand why one might try it. You're actually looking at the road and can probably convince yourself that you might be paying a bit of attention. But texting? No, you're looking at your phone and using your hands and can't possibly think you've got anything left for driving.

I feel like I'm seeing this more and more lately. For example, the other day I was driving down the street minding my own business, when I noticed the car in front of me with shifting back and forth between 15mph and 25. In addition, the tail lights kept blinking on and off, on and off, almost like the hazards were on. When it started drifting in and out of the lane, I decided I needed to get the hell away. As I passed, sure enough, some idiot texting. And not even a teenage idiot, but a 40 something SUV driving mom!

Actually, funny story, the other day I saw a woman talking very animatedly on her phone with one hand (I know, it's not texting, but it was classic) and smoking a cigarette with her other (she had the cigarette hand hanging out the window).  Somehow she had a third hand in there to move the steering wheel. And the funny part was, when she paused at a stop sign and saw me and Otto staring at her, she took a break from all the above and chatted with me about what a beautiful dog I had and what kind it was. Mind you it was on 23rd in rush hour. I can't imagine there was any actual brain space left for driving.  I was happy when she 'drove' away, leaving me and Otto intact.

Anyhow, that's my rant for the day. I'll leave you with a bonus 'thing I don't understand'. This one is called, where the hell is the music coming from (no, it's not in my head).  All weekend long - morning, afternoon and evening - there has been intermittent, very loud mexican music coming from somewhere down the hill. Occasionally, this music is accompanied by whoops and whoos (partying sounds). Last night I decided I had to explore and did a loop around the greenspace (it sounds like the music is coming from inside the greenspace).  Here's the scary part, NOTHING!  As soon as I left my house, no music. Down closer to Rainier, no music. All the way around the greenspace, no music. Even if it was coming from the lake or something, you'd think it would get louder the closer I got, but no, I only hear it in the house.  I've tried talking to the little green men about it, but they're no help!

Sunday, fun day

Whoo, a busy day, shared in pictures, to bring picture month to a close!

Fortunately, Otto and Daisy piled on the bed promptly at 6.20, to make sure I would be bright eyed and bushy tailed for all my adventures.
Good morning!
The first scheduled event was a play date for Otto!  But, before that we had to rush off to the farmer's market, as there was meat to buy, lots of meat. Turns out that if you get to the farmer's market before 10, you wait. The vendors stand there saying things like '5 minutes' and the customers stand there waiting, until it's 10.

Meat that I bought at 10:01.

I'll throw in some gratuitous flower shots from the farmer's market, not because they move the story along, but because they were so pretty!! Plus, I had to do something while I was waiting for the clock to strike 10!

How does anything this beautiful exist?

Lilacs, my number one favorite flower!
Anyhow, moving along, because we had to, snap...snap...snap. There was a lot to do. A quick trip to the grocery store then Otto and I had a play date with Stella. Fortunately, all of Stella's family came along for the ride as well. Stella is one of Otto's very best buddies, though it seems he has completely forgotten how to play.
Squirrelly dogs in a car.
Sylvie and Otto

This is about as excited as Otto gets on a play date.

Otto, play with me! PLEASE!

During the walk we ran into Bingo, on the left, who seems to be Otto's twin. Clearly, Otto was very excited.
Next it was home for a nap before I flew off to Ballard for some toe nail beautification.
I was talked out of black polish in favor of orangy pink craziness.
And finally, after our feet were all relaxed and our toes all beautiful, time for drinks with some amazing ladies!

Artsy bar shot

Mmmmm, fizzy goodness.

Whoo. All this and it was sunny and 65 here in Seattle!  Perfect fun weekend day. After a day like today, how is it possible I will be at work tomorrow. I think it's time for summer vacation!
